A political group called ‘Bauchi State APC Concerned Group’ has reacted to the re-endorsement of the incumbent state caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress Uba Nana by a coalition of 36 support groups for continuity.
Recall that Nana had been chairman of the party for over eight and after the expiration of his tenure, the national headquarters appointed him as caretaker committee chairman to supervise congresses.
Last week, a coalition of 36 APC women and youth support groups re-endorsed him to retain the office in the upcoming state congress slated for October 2021.
However, the Bauchi state APC concerned group asked party stakeholders to provide fair playing ground to all candidates vying for the office.
Secretary of the group Isma’il Alhassan Musa who addressed newsmen Monday said the party does not belong to Nana alone opining that he had overstayed his welcome.
He accused Nana of causing the defeat of the APC in the 2019 governorship election adding that the chairman should rather resign not recontest for the office.
“It is our believe that since the party lost the 2019 governorship election to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the party had remained in its shadows waiting for a new direction which was not forthcoming until now, and it has left so many members of the party in a state of helplessness, confusion and hopelessness”. The group alleged.
