Bandits Storm Kiyawa, Abduct Council Chairman’s Wives

The police in Jigawa State have confirmed that Bandits have stormed Kiyawa, headquarters of Kiyawa local government of the state and abductes two wives of the council chairman, Nasiru Ahmad at his residence.
According to residents, the Bandits entered the town around 8:00 p.m on Friday shooting sporadically and headed straight to the residence of the Chairman.
Jigawa State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Lawan Adam while speaking on the incidence said security operatives are on top of the situation.
He stated, “On Friday about 8:50 (p.m.) distress call was received from good Samaritans that unknown gunmen about seven in number on motorcycles carrying AK-47 rifles stormed the house of the Kiyawa Local Government chairman and abducted two of his wives, Sabura, 30, and Mubaraka, 35, to unknown destination.
“On receipt of the report, operatives from Kiyawa Division, area command Dutse, and special teams from the state headquarters Dutse, were drafted to the scene to salvage the situation”.
Jigawa unlike most of the states in the North-west region has be relatively secure and peacefull because kidnapping for ransom and Armed banditry are rare occurances.
