Confusion hit Sabon Tasha in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state on Thursday as residents of the area staged a protest hours after armed bandits abducted nine people in the community.
It was gathered that the bandits also called to demand N20 million in ransom for each of the nine people kidnapped.
The incident happened at Ungwan Gimbiya community of Sabo late Wednesday night at about 11 pm.
Six people, including a landlord and his tenants, were kidnapped from one house.
It comes two days after armed bandits abducted 121 students at Bethel Baptist High School in the same Local Government.
The latest abduction in Sabo led to protest by the residents as they called on the state government to end the rates of insecurity in the state.
A resident of Sabo who didn’t mention his name laments that the people are tired of these abductions.
“The bandits kidnapped 9 people on Wednesday in the community just two days after they abducted 121 students at Bethel Baptist high school. This is disturbing,” he said.
It was gathered that the protesters were forced to vacate the road by policemen deployed to maintain law and order.
Calls to the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Jalige Muhammed were unanswered.
