Boko Haram terrorists, Wednesday, 29th June, stormed the Shiroro Power Station, Niger State, killing no fewer than 18 security agents, including a police officer, and abducting four Chinese expertiates.
Dependable sources said the terrorists were in an apparent mission to seize the electricity generation facility.
The incident occurred at Ajata Aboki Village in Shiroro Local Government Area, about 200 from Abuja.
The attack forced residents to a mass exodus from the area in order to avoid being caught in the duel between the terrorists and troops.
The state government confirmed in a statement that four Chinese workers were abducted, but could not immediately ascertain fatalities of security personnel.
Although reinforcement was dispatched to the scene, no further details were received on the attack as of Thursday morning.
Boko Haram fighters have made repeated attempts to seize the facility, which contributes about 620 megawatts to the national electricity grid, since last year.
Security agencies have not issued any statement on the incident as at reporting time.
