Christians the world over have been advised to reduce the emphasise from the mundane, material and physical to spiritual as they celebrate this years Christmas.
The General Overseer of Christ Central Chapel International Church (CCIC), Ikot Eneobong, Calabar, Cross River, Archbishop Emah Isong, gave the advice in a telephone interview with DAYLIGHT REPORTERS on Tuesday.
Isong explained that the advice was imperative since Christmas is the spiritual recapitalization of the birthday of the saviour of the world.
He explained that Christmas is about the birth of the saviour of the world and called on the people of the world to embrace Jesus as their Lord and saviour.
According to the cleric, “anyone who receives Jesus will have abundant life and long life.
“I challenge everybody that Christmas is not a holiday, it is an incident that happened. A child was born , Isaiah 9:8 says Unto us a child was born and a son was given. That son, is the son of God. That son, is the son of God in whom there is deliverance and healing,” Archbishop Isong said.
To ensure a hitch-free celebration, the clergyman advised security agencies to synergise to reduce the upsurge in crime often associated with the celebration of Christmas.
“Crime prevention is not only the job of the governor or local government Chairman, but the collaboration of all in information gathering and dissemination,” he said.
He attributed the rise in crime to the increased social activities, the desire for money and an overwhelmed security apparatus.
Isong further advised government’s to invest in transportation and the security architecture of the local government areas.
