A Chieftain of the All Progress Congress (APC) in Gombe state Hon Kabiru Musa Haruna Wade has called on the federal government to urgently reconstruct the Gombe-Yobe- Maiduguri federal road in order to mitigate the rates of accidents that claim of lives on daily basis.
He made the call in a chat with Journalists in Damaturu, Yobe state capital where he lamented that, the condition of federal roads across the three states is worrisome.
According to him, the state of the roads in the states is a breach of the fundamental human rights of the people and wondered why the federal government had decided to neglect the roads.
He described that, the road will link 3 states, which comprising Gombe, Borno and Yobe with bridge between Borno and Yobe, Dadin kowa to Wade Gombe State to Fikayel of Borno state, Gulani to Tetteba- Yadin Buni in Yobe state the road as an eyesore and a disgrace to the nation.
“We spend hours on that road because of its deplorable state. Broken down trailers and heavy trucks also constitute grave danger to motorists especially at night,” he said.
He alleged that Boko Haram and kidnappers had moved from Gulani to Gombe road to Fikayel to Borno road taking advantage of the pot holes adding that Wade- Yamaltu road was another nightmare.
Kabiru noted that Gombe state was surrounded by four states aside other states that plied the roads serving as link between the northeast parts and the northern parts of the country.
He said Wade roads, plied on daily basis by Nigerians from all these states, deserved special attention. when the rain starts again it will be torrential as a result of the long break. Our properties, buildings, and little children may be in danger as a result of the attendant flood that will take over the entire communities.
Hon Kabir called on the National Assembly members from Gombe, Borno and Yobe state’s to pay a visit to the Minister of Works on the need to tackle the issue from all fronts.
“Sir, Mr President,we hereby implore you to please urgently come to our aid and rescue us from the imminent flood when rain commences again,” he emphasized.
He, however, commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his masses oriented programs
since he assumed office, saying “We specifically commend you for your love for the masses, especially the downtrodden ones in the society.
