Ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention to elec national executive committee of the party, group under the auspices of Northeast Development Organizations Initiatives has begun tour to all the six states of the North-east; Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Taraba and Yobe in support of the former governor of Gombe state and Senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District of Gombe state, Sen. Muhammad Danjuma Goje.
The Coordinator of the group, Ahmed Abubakar Afauwala has said that after due consultations and meetings with various stakeholders from the zone, they’ve arrived at the decision to call and support Sen. Goje for the national chairman of the APC.
“We have consulted widely within the zone and found Sen. Goje worthy and capable of moving our great party forward beyond 2023.
“It’s very obvious that APC needs an experienced person to take the party to victory and Goje has all it takes to provide able leadership in the party.
“We’ve confidence in him and urged him to answer our clarion.” He said.
The group which has coordinators in all the states and local government areas of the six states, have visited Bauchi, Taraba, Gombe and would be in Borno and Yobe.
Goje has never indicated interest to contest but former governors of Borno, Ali Modu Sheriff; Nasarawa, Umar Tanko Almakura; Zamfara, Abduaziz Yari have indicated interest on the seat.
Others are; Clement Ebri from Rivers state and Mustapha Salihu from. Kwara state.
The Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rolled out time table for the conduct of party’s congresses from the ward to zonal levels.
The time table is however silent on the National Convention of the party.
Secretary to the Committee, Senator John James Akpanduoehehe, disclosed these to newsmen at the party secretariat in Abuja after their meeting under Gov. Mai Mala Buni.
