Akwa Ibom Police Command Parades Pupil For Threatening School Mates With Gun

A thirteen-year old primary school pupil in Akwa Ibom, Samuel Sunday was paraded by the State Police Command for allegedly wielding gun to threaten school mates.
Samuel, who is a pupil of St. Paul’s Primary School, Ikot Ibiok in Eket Local Government Area was paraded alongside his father at Police Command headquarters, Ikot Akpan-Abia, near Uyo.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John told journalists that, the thirteen year old suspect took the gun from his father’s wardrobe since November 24, 2024 before he was arrested on January 30, 2025.
She said the police acting on intelligence, arrested the suspect and his father and recovered the pistol adding that investigations were still ongoing.
” On 30/01/2025 at about 0800 hours based on credible information at the Command’s disposal, that on 28/01/2025 One Samuel Sunday “m” of Ikot Ibiok village in Eket LGA, a 13 year old pupil of St. Paul primary school Ikot Ibiok in Eket LGA was going to school armed with a gun and threatening to fire at his fellow pupils.
“The operatives of the Command immediately swung into action, arrested the suspect and recovered a locally made pistol from him.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime saying that, he took the gun since November 2024, from a wardrobe in his father’s bedroom. The father was later arrested as investigation is ongoing,” she said.
The command also paraded one Roseline Maurice ‘f’ and One Eno Udoka ‘f’ for conspiring and stealing a child at Obong Itam village in Itu LGA sometime in the month of June 2024 and sold the victim for N200,000 to their regular receiver in Cross River State.
Suspects were said to have used the money to purchase a refrigerator, television, fan etc. she said all the items have been recovered from them.
The Police also paraded child trafficking syndicates that lured young girls into having affairs with men, who eventually get them pregnant and the babies sold to their customers. Also, on 01/02/2025 at about 0800hr based on a complaint from two young girls 18 years of age that, a woman attempted to traffick them to Cross River State for them to have affair with men and get pregnant in order to sell the babies and share the money. The report was made known to the police and the operatives of the Command swung into action and arrested One Gift Essien Tommy ‘f’ and One Peace Ekanem ‘f’.”
The Command also paraded a 60-year old man who defiled a nine year old girl in a bush and gave her N200 afterwards.
Police said, all the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations adding that, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Baba Mohammed Azare was determined to rid the state of criminality and availed the public to always give useful informations to the police.
