The seven oil producing local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, have donated medical equipment worth millions of Naira to eight Primary Health Centers in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the State.
The local government areas are Eket, Mbo, Onna, Ibeno, Mkpat Enin, Esit Eket and Eastern Obolo, (EMOIMEE).
The benefiting primary health centres are located in Ikot Eda, Ikot Abasi Obio Nkan in Ikpa – Ikono Clan and Ikot Idiong and Ikot Ebak under Ibiaku Clan.
Others are; Primary Health Centers at Ibotio/Ndon and Ikot Akata representing Ikpa Ibom Clan, as well as the Primary Health Centers in Mkpat Enin Urban and Ikot Ekpene under Ukpum Minya Clan.
A representative of Mkpat Enin Local Government on the Board of EMOIMEE, Engr. Sunny Udoh, presented the equipment to the various Primary Health Centers in the area.
He said the gesture was part the organization’s contributions in fostering grassroots development in its catchment communities.
He said the donation, which arose from earlier discoveries during their inspection to healthcare facilities in the local government area, would help in strengthening the health system and improve the lives of our people.
Elder (Rev.) Obot Ekanem, on behalf of the management of EMOIMEE, affirmed that, the items donated were an initiative from the Host Community Development Trust Fund (HCDT), pioneering grassroots development in partnership with Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, now Seplat Energy by channelling resources into sustainable projects to improve lives of rural communities.
Mkpat Enin Council Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Inyang, appreciated EMOIMEE for the support to healthcare centers in his domain.
The Council boss, who was represented by his VC, Hon. Owoidoho Inyangetuk also pledged Council’s readiness to partner the donors to deepen healthcare development in the Local Government Area.
Medical Consultant to EMOIMEE, Prof. Etete Peters, said based on the assessment report to EMOIMEE, the organization decided to embark on provision of equipment to upscale health services.
