Akwa Ibom Miners Applaud President Tinubu over 2025 Appropriation Bill

Miners in Akwa Ibom have appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his commitment towards diversifying the solid minerals sector.
Chairman of Akwa Ibom branch, Engr. Iyakise Udofia made this known in Uyo on Tuesday.
Engr. Udofia, in a statement made available newsmen in Uyo said, the sector under the present administration would do well, as it has made available N1 trillion in the passage of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.
According to him, “the bill allocates ₦1 Trillion to the solid minerals sector, representing approximately 1.82% of the total ₦54.9 trillion budget.
“As a state rich in mineral resources, this investment will significantly enhance exploration, processing, and commercialization of Nigeria’s mineral resources.”
He said, the funding is expected to unlock the full potentials of the solid minerals industry, creating jobs and fostering economic growth, particularly in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
Comrade Udofia also expressed gratitude to key stakeholders, including the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake and Senator Ekong Sampson, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals.
He noted that their collective efforts have been instrumental in securing necessary funding for the industry, and emphasized that, as miners the association remained committed to responsible mining practices that would contribute to national development.
Udofia promised to work in collaboration with the stakeholders to ensure the investment yields and the desired impact.
