The All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom yesterday, passed a “Vote of Confidence” on the President of Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and also dubbed him as the “Grand Leader” of the party in the state.
The group, under the aegis of “Forum of APC Chapter Chairmen’ in the state said, the decision followed Senator Akpabio ‘s uncommon leadership strides he has continued to exude over time, and even now, as the chairman of the National Assembly.
They said, “it is no longer news that, when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice”, Proverbs 29: 2 adding that, the Biblical reference depicts the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The forum in a motion moved by the chapter chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Umoh Ekpo and duly seconded by his Mkpat Enin Local Government counterpart, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah at the meeting, unanimously passed a confidence vote on the Senate President.
Chairman, Forum of APC Chapter Chairmen, Elder Ntiedo Usoro and convener of the meeting, expressed his gratefulness to members and seized the opportunity to appreciate the Senior Special Assistant (Political Matters) to Senate President, Hon. Aniekan Abraham for hosting members of the forum.
The forum, however described Hon. Abraham as the “umbilical cord” that links the party seamlessly with the political class (the Grand leader) and also made recommendations to the Senate President through the SSA.
The Chapter Chairmen urged other appointed and elected officers of the party to borrow leaf from the SSA.
The SSA (Political Matters) to the Senate President and chief host, Hon. Aniekan Abraham thanked the chapter heads for their steadfastness against the challenges the party had faced in the past describing them “as real foot soldiers of the party” promising to work with the forum at all times.
The SSA, charged the Chairmen on uniting party members for the good of party. He also spoke on the importance of the National Identify Number (NIN) registration and charged the Chairmen to mobilize their members across the state to enrol in the forthcoming national electronic registration and revalidation of membership exercise of the party.
