Adeyanju to Kogi Assembly: Stop Protecting Bello, Let EFCC Do Its Job
A prominent lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has strongly condemned the Kogi State House of Assembly’s recent call for the removal of EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.
Adeyanju expressed deep concern that instead of investigating the alleged massive looting of the state’s treasury under Yahaya Bello’s administration, the Assembly is defending the former governor.
Adeyanju described the Assembly’s actions as a “blatant disregard for justice and the welfare of the Kogi people.”
He emphasized that the people of Kogi deserve answers, not theatrics, and urged citizens to reflect on the kind of leaders they elect.
“Leaders without moral and ethical grounding prioritize their interests over public service,” he lamented.
Adeyanju stressed that the EFCC’s mandate is to fight corruption and that they must be allowed to do their job without interference.
“Any attempt to shield corrupt individuals from justice undermines the Nigerian people’s fight against corruption,” he said.
DAYLIGHT REPORTERS reports that the EFCC has been pursuing Bello, along with his nephew Ali Bello, Dauda Suleiman, and Abdulsalam Hudu, on charges related to money laundering and Yahya has reportedly been fleeing and evading EFCC’s invitation.
