Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has issued a stern warning to civil servants against age falsification, describing the practice as dangerous and unacceptable.
Speaking at a state dinner in Asaba organized for the College of Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Deputy Directors, and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, the governor condemned the act of falsifying age to extend years of service.
According to him, any civil servant caught in the act would face severe sanctions.
“If you know you have attained retirement age, please retire so that the younger ones can be employed into the civil service,” Oborevwori warned.
“You should use your real age so that people can grow in the system. When you are old, please allow the young ones to take over.”
The governor stressed that staying beyond one’s legitimate years in service blocks employment opportunities for younger citizens and undermines the integrity of the public service.
He urged officers to ensure accuracy in their records and uphold transparency.
While expressing appreciation to the state workforce for their support, Oborevwori said, “I thank you for the love you have shown to this administration. Let us continue to work together for the growth and development of the state.”
