The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has presented a distinguished service award to deserving alumni and staff who have contributed their quota towards the growth and development of the university.
The award is in line with the VC’s initiative of appreciating both alumni of the institution and staff who have dedicated themselves creditably in the discharge of their duties to the university community.
Speaking at the ceremony held in the University, Prof. Obi said that Unical appreciated the outstanding ones and would continue to motivate the staff to do more and take the university to greater heights.
“The 2025 edition of the award is more significant because of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the institution,” she stated.
Among those awarded are the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kevin Ogon, former VC of CRUTECH, Prof. Eka Braide, former VC, Prof. James Epoke, former Registrar of the institution, Amb. Other categories of teaching and non-teaching staff, including the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Offiong Bassey Eyo, were also awarded with meritorious staff awards during the event.
