He was represented by the Programme Manager on IDPs, Orseer Zege Gaius, and the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) team.

He stated that the support was not a form of compensation but a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to assisting those affected by disasters.

“Following the first rapid assessment conducted by BSEMA officials and the member of the House of Representatives for Logo, Katsina-Ala, and Ukum on March 10, we are here to provide urgent food and non-food relief to affected communities,” Alia said.

While sympathising with the displaced families and those who lost loved ones, he assured them of the government’s continued support until they could safely return to their communities.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Hon. Justine Shaku Orangoholga, lauded Governor Alia for his prompt intervention in deploying security forces to prevent further attacks and for ensuring the provision of relief materials through BSEMA.

He also acknowledged the efforts of Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, the Member representing Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency, for drawing the governor’s attention to the security situation.

He urged other stakeholders to join hands with the lawmaker and Governor Alia in safeguarding Benue communities.

In his remarks, Chief Daniel Aondowase Iornongu, described the timely provision of relief materials as commendable and prayed for divine protection over Governor Alia in his efforts to combat insecurity and protect the people of Benue.

The relief distribution was conducted under tight security, with the presence of officials from the Katsina-Ala Local Government Council, traditional leaders, and security agencies, ensuring a smooth process.

The breakdown of items distributed to displaced persons in Abaji-Kpav and Gbor camps was as follows: Abaji-Kpav Camp: 250 bags of 25kg rice; 100 bags of beans; 200 cartons of Indomie noodles; 5 gallons of red oil; 20 cartons of seasoning cubes.

While at Gbor Camp, they were 200 bags of 25kg rice; 100 bags of beans; 150 cartons of Indomie noodles; 5 gallons of red oil; 15 cartons of seasoning cubes.

The Benue State Government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing humanitarian crises and providing lasting solutions to security challenges in the state.
