Police Investigate Killing Of Student By JTF Member In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has launched an investigation into a tragic shooting incident involving a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) in Dutsinma.
The incident, which occurred on February 23rd, 2025, led to the injury of a commercial motorcycle rider and the death of Sa’idu Abdulkadir, a 400-level student of the Federal University Dutsinma.
According to the Police, the incident occurred around 11:26 am. A commercial motorcyclist transporting Abdulkadir was flagged down by a CJTF team in a Hilux vehicle.
One of the JTF members allegedly opened fire, hitting both individuals.
Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene and rushed the victims to Dutsinma General Hospital.
However, Abdulkadir was later referred to the Orthopedic Hospital, Katsina, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A statement by the state command spokesman, Sadiq Abubakar expressed deep concern over the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.
“The Command is committed to ensuring justice is served and is working closely with the university management and other stakeholders to bring the suspects to justice,” said Abubakar.
The police have pledged to provide further updates as the investigation on the matter.
Meanwhile, the management of the Federal University Dutsin-ma (FUDMA) has temporary closed down the school, although normalcy have since been restored to the area.
