President Bola Tinubu has been urged to include north central youths into the Board of the newly created North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The Youths made the call at a rally held by at the National Assembly in Abuja over the weekend by the North Central Youth Advocacy For Development (NCYAD).
According to the organisers, the rally was meant to show their appreciation to the President and other people that pushed for the creation the NCDC to accelerate development in the North Central region.
The NCDC member states are; Kogi, Nassarawa, Abuja, Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Niger States.
Speaking, President of the association, Engr Musa Ovaku commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) for his active role in rallying stakeholders to the actualisation of the NCDC.
He said, “We also extend our greetings to our leaders of National Assembly from the region and the governors of the region. There are two numerous for me to mention.
“Special greetings and appreciations to the SGF, Senator Akume. He has been very, very resourceful. He has been committed in this fight. And we are happy that this time around we have achieved our aim.
“The greetings to all our leaders are to just show a bit of appreciation from the arms of the youth. And with this, we want to use the moment to appeal and plead to our president and those in power, in authority, that the creation of North Central Development Commission should be a source of unity to advance the togetherness we have already in North Central as a region in the likes of appointing key appointments and distributed evenly and equity across the states.
“All these people are important. All the stakeholders are important. We are appealing to the president to appoint everybody to make sure all the states are carried along. Our aim of begging this particular piece is to ensure that every stakeholder from the states has a sense of belonging. Having said that, we are the youth moving around.
“We know the challenges of the region. We know the aspirations of the region. We are familiar with the youths. And we are familiar with the community. We use this opportunity to beg the authority whom will be saddled with the responsibility of filling in the cabinet of this NCDC to please recognize the youth that have been around, that have been working without benefit, that have been using their personal resources, seeking for this creation.
“Let us not politicize all the appointments. We want the Mr. President, our governors, our senators, our National Assembly representatives to be democratic in selecting the cabinet of this NCDC.
“Having said all this, I want to use this special time to thank my youths, my fellow strugglers. We are very happy that in our time, even if we are not benefiting anything from the government yet, we believe that a common development to our people, to our community, is our personal development.
“We all believe that we believe in the common development of the region. When this NCDC is in action, we know that development and our aspirations will be answered, especially the lack of unemployment, the lack of jobs, the lack of development. This is a crucial infrastructure in the region.
“Please, Mr. President, for the last time, we want unity from the region. Please, let all the ascenders are involved in the appointment of the commission”.
