Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has approved the appointment of Mr. Timothy Inusa Kasuwa as the new Chairman of the state’s Teachers’ Service Commission.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji announced the appointment in a statement, few hours after the Governor terminated the appointment of the previous management over the recent illegal recruitment of teachers and job racketeering.
He also announced the appointment of Abuzaid Abubakar and Abdullahi Amwe as full time members and Josephine Ter as part time member with Ishaq Sidi Bage as Secretary.
The statement added that the appointees would been inaugurated in due time.
Recalled that Governor Sule averred that 80 percent of teachers illegally employed can’t write acceptance letter.
He vowed that his administration would not absorb those illegally employed by the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC), which he recently suspended, and ordered a thorough investigation into the illegal recruitment.
During a visit by the Christian Association of Nigeria, Governor Sule decried that most of those employed by the TSC even refused to be posted out to the hinterlands but instead chose to remain in urban centres, to the detriment of the population in the rural areas.
According to him, he gave approval for the recruitment of 1000 teachers but TSC went ahead to employ more than 1000 additional teachers.
