North-Eastern University Gombe Introduces Degrees In Petroleum Chemistry, Others

Following the discovery of petrol at Kolmani wells around Bauchi and Gombe states and the launch of exploration by the Federal Government, the North-Eastern University, Gombe in Gombe State has introduced new degree programmes related to the oil and gas sector.
Pro-chancellor of the University, Dr. Sani Jauro (Danlawan of Gombe) disclosed this to DAYLIGHT REPORTERS.
He explained that the new degrees are Bachelors of Science in Petroleum Chemistry, Environmental Management and Toxicology as well as Bachelors of Science in Industrial Chemistry.
According to him, the new programmes are meant to train students and enable them to take up jobs in the oil and gas sectors.
“I wish to inform you that the North-Eastern University Gombe, formerly Pen Resource University Gombe has started degree programmes aimed at training our children to take up jobs at Kolmani and other oil and gas sectors.
“The courses are B.Sc Petroleum Chemistry, B.Sc Environmental Management and Toxicology, and B.Sc Industrial Chemistry,” he noted.
The pro-chancellor added that they were also trying to establish an oil and gas competency development centre, which would collaborate with internationally recognised certification centres to train students and others to gain additional skills and competence to work in the oil and gas sector.
