By Osehobo Ofure, Benin-City
Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has lamented the Delta State government’s failure to address critical infrastructure and development needs in his constituency.
He said this is despite Anioma’s contributions to the state’s economy over the years. Nwoko spoke while announcing his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), to his constituency.
“For too long, our demands for basic necessities have been ignored,” he stated, as he specifically highlighted the lack of progress on power distribution from the Okpai plant, the underutilization of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, and the neglect of key roads such as the Asaba-Ugbolu-Illah and Kwale-Ogume-Amai-Obiaruku roads.
Nwoko accused the PDP-led state government of marginalizing his constituents in appointments and governance. “The Governor personally asked me to submit names for commissioners—I did. None were appointed,” he said.
The Sanator added that his recommendations for board chairmen and local government representatives were also disregarded, describing the government as one “that has chosen to govern with excuses instead of action.”
Senator Nwoko who emphasized his achievements in the Senate, stating that he has sponsored 26 bills and 22 motions, including the Anioma State Creation Bill, which is now at the committee stage.
