PDP On Fence-mending In North East Ahead On 2027 Elections

The move being championed by the PDP Reconciliation Committee led by former Osun State Governor, and ex-National Secretary of the party, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was at Government house, Bauchi, on Thursday, where high-level talks with the governors of Bauchi, Adamawa and Taraba were held.
With the North East PDP Zonal Caucus also present, the meeting was aimed at resolving internal disputes, re-build party unity, and strategize for a return to power.
“Our mission is clear – reaching out to aggrieved members and fostering unity. The PDP must be a strong, credible opposition and formidable force in 2027, achievable if all members prioritize the party’s collective interest over personal grievances,” he stressed.
Oyinlola commended the three North East governors of the PDP for their commitment to strengthening the party and urged them to deepen the reconciliation process.
Bauchi Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum, on behalf of his other colleagues, expressed confidence in the party’s strength and therefore pledged their support in fortifying its structure as the most attractive party.
Also speaking, the acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Damagun said the party is bigger than any individual and assured members that it remains committed and resolute despite the present internal crisis which he stressed “is normal and would soon be a history”.
On his own part, the Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, described the initiative as timely, given the party’s lingering internal conflicts.
He called for a collective approach, urging all factions to set aside differences and work towards a united front.
