Former Sokoto Governor, Bafarawa Resigns From PDP, Focuses On Youth Empowerment

The former Governor of Sokoto State, Dr. Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The resignation letter dated 8, January, 2025, was addressed to the National Chairman but stamped received at the party national headquarters on 13, January, 2025.
According to the letter, Bafarawa said his decision to resign from the PDP, though deeply personal and difficult, it borne out of his commitment to a new chapter of service that aligns with his vision of uplighting humanity through empowering the youth.
The former Governor who holds the traditional title of Garkuwan Sokoto, pointed that he has recently dedicated himself to a new youth movement that seeks to inspire, empower, and transform the lives of young people who are the bedrock of the nation’s future.
Bafarawa noted that it was in the light of this that he wishes to avoid any potential conflict of interest that may arise from his political affiliations.
He said his focus will now be solely on creating avenues for youth empowerment, fostering innovation, and promoting the values that build a prosperous future for all.
The former Governor said over the years, he has been honoured to be part of the PDP, a platform that has significantly shaped Nigeria’s political landscape and contributed immensely to nation building.
Bafarawa noted that he remained grateful for the opportunities he has had to contribute to the PDP and its ideals and commended the leadership and members for their relentless efforts to promote democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
He said as he transits into a new phase in his life, he seeks understanding and wish the PDP continued success in its endeavours.
