The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, who rose to national limelight for rejecting $200,000 bribe in a high-profile armed robbery case, has converted to Islam.
The solemn ceremony took place Tuesday at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II in a private event where he adopted the name “Muhammad.”
The Emir Sanusi II encouraged him to deepen his understanding of Islam and remain steadfast in observing its five pillars. These include belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca and charitable giving (Zakat).
The Emir also prayed for Allah’s guidance, urging Amah to uphold his exemplary character and respect his parents regardless of their religious affiliations.
Amah [Muhammad] gained national recognition in April 2022 when, as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, tuned downed a bribe of $200,000 offered by armed robbery suspects who stole over N300 million during a robbery targeting a Bureau De Change operator with $750,000 in cash.
In acknowledgement of his integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted Amah from Chief Superintendent of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari also celebrated Amah’s actions, presenting him with the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award.
