Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has launched the 2024/2025 General Household Survey and inaugurated the State Consultative Committee on Statistics.
Speaking during the inauguration at the Local Government Service Commission on Monday, Governor Radda explained that the household survey is designed to provide policymakers and development partners with detailed insights into living conditions across Katsina State.
This was contained in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State.
The Governor added that this comprehensive data collection effort will directly inform programmes aimed at transforming citizens’ lives.
“Since we assumed office, our administration has prioritized programs that elevate the living standards of our people,” stated Governor Radda.
“This survey will ensure that our development initiatives reach every corner of Katsina State, leaving no one behind,” he noted.
Governor Radda, however, directed all ministries, departments and agencies to coordinate future statistical exercises with the Bureau for Statistics, establishing a unified approach to data collection.
The Governor urged enumerators to maintain the highest standards of integrity in gathering information, emphasizing the critical role of accurate data in shaping government policies.
Earlier, the Director General Bureau of Statistics, Associate Professor Saifullahi Sani Matazu, declared the agency has received substantial government funding to support this initiative.
He added that the Bureau has been equipped with modern ICT facilities and trained personnel to ensure accurate data collection.
Professor Matazu assured collaboration with UNICEF, the World Bank, and other development partners to achieve comprehensive coverage.
During the ceremony, UNICEF representative from Kano Field Office, Hajiya Fatima, presented the broader implications and advantages of this statistical initiative for development planning.
