Matawalle Praises IMCTC for Trainings Offered Nigerian Armed Force on Counterterrorism

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle has expressed gratitude to the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) for trainings offered the Nigerian Armed Forces to improve their counterterrorism capacity.
He disclosed this in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during an official visit to the IMCTC’s head office where he praised the Secretary-General of the Coalition for the training programmes.
Dr Matawalle also took the opportunity to stress the need for intelligence sharing among member nations as a vital aspect in the fight against insurgency and armed banditry.
He called for extensive collaboration with the coalition so as to be able to localize requisite modern equipment/technology to continue to improve the capacity of the Nigerian armed forces.
While in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Matawalle is expected to meet with the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
Nigeria belongs to over 300 international organizations of which the IMCTC is one of them.
Nigeria is one of the original members of the IMCTC since its inception in Saudi Arabia in 2015 and has participated in its first two meetings of Defence Ministers’ Council in Riyadh in November 2017 and February 2024.
