No Food Security Without National Security – Director Falgates

Director of Falgates Food, Air Commodore Iliyasu Yahaya (rtd), has said for Nigeria to have food security there most be national security that will guide the farmers against all threats of insecurity.
The Director is speaking at the 2nd Annual Distributors and Supplier conference and launching of new product called Fal Gold Rice held in Kaduna.
He said it was not the soldiers’ job to farm but because he’s there there’s assurance that he can go to my farm when there’s security and no bandit or kidnapper will kidnap him and be able to return to his family.
The Director added that all hands should be on deck so that soldiers are given weapons to protect farmers and the farmer provided fertilizer and farm inputs so that everybody will bring food to the nation and there will be food security.
Commodore Yahaya maintained that agriculture is for everybody it’s not only about taking the hoe and going to the farm but so many channels involved.
According to him, the company has over 200 casual staff, provided accommodation and engaged in all manner manual labour in the factory
In an interview with the Managing Director of the company Mallam Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad Falalu, he said Falgates specializes particularly in production of parboiled rice and into supplies of agric and agro-allied commodities.
He explained the conference is an annual event to appreciate friends, families and distributors for their efforts and contribution.
On the recent blackout, he said the company relied heavily on diesel to power the machines to meet up with demands of customers.
A distributor from Abia State, South Eastern Nigeria, Chief Ebela Anezemba praised the Falgates for the quality of rice saying it is most preferred in Aba and environs.
