The important meeting held at the office of the President followed Dr Matawalle’s recent trips to Sokoto, where he has been spearheading stringent efforts to restore peace in the region, which has suffered a lot for over a decade due to rampant banditry, kidnapping for ransom and cattle rustling.

DAYLIGHT REPORTERS leant that the outcomes of this high-level meeting could shape the future of security strategies across Nigeria, making it a critical moment in the ongoing battle against banditry and violence in the northwest.

Though details of their discussions remained confidential, it is generally believed that the main reason of the meeting focused majorly on the need to brief Mr. President on the achievements recorded during the implementation of his orders.

It is equally believed that escalating insecurity in the northwest and broader national safety concerns informed the visit.

Similarly, in a decisive move under President Tinubu’s directives, Matawalle previously mobilized all the service chiefs to Sokoto, resulting in successful operations and elimination of bandits and their groups, with numerous militants reportedly neutralized.

Consequently, during Matawalle’s subsequent visit to Sokoto, his initiatives have greatly yielded notable achievements, including the reopening of long-abandoned roads, which had fallen into the bandits enclaves due to the ongoing violence.

These developments have marked a crucial step towards restoring normalcy in the region, highlighting the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity head-on.

It was gathered that as the nation watches closely, the outcomes of this high-level meeting could shape the future of security strategies across Nigeria, making it a critical moment in the ongoing battle against banditry and violence in the northwest.

It is hoped that with President Tinubu and the honourable Ministers of Defence, all service chiefs, the police and all sister agencies, Almighty God should protect them and give them more wisdom and initiatives to salvage the entire nation from the havoc of insecurity.
