Gashua Varsity Gets 3 Professors, 17 Readers
The Governing Council of the Federal University Gashua, at its 26th Regular meeting Thursday, October 3, 2024, approved the promotion of three distinguished senior academics to the prestigious rank of Professors and 17 other Senior Lecturers were promoted to the rank of Readers.
Those promoted to the rank of Professors are: Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Jajere, Geography, Dr. Mohammed Attai Yakubu, English and Dr. Aminu Maidala, Animal Science.

Similarly, 17 Senior Lecturers were promoted to the rank of Readers and they are: Dr. Lawan Adamu, Animal Science, Dr. Adedeji Israel Ajibade, Agric. Economics and Extension, Dr. Amase Emmanuel Lanior, English, Dr. Apya Hyancinth N. History and International Relations.
Others are: Dr. Mujahid Hamza Shittu, Islamic Studies, Dr. Pius Tumba, Mathematics, Dr. Mohammed Bashir Umar, Agric. Economics and Extension, Dr. Bagudu Iliaya Amaza, Animal Science, Dr. Aisha Ibrahim Ningi, History and International Relations and Dr. Kabir Mohammed, History International Relations, Dr. Nura Ahmed, Islamic Studies, Dr. Emmanuel John Kaka, Accounting and Dr. Sunday Alewo, Business Administration, Dr. Mahmood Danasabe, Psychology, Dr. Agwola Idoko Robert, Public Admin. Dr. Stephen Sunday Ojo, Sociology and Dr. Aina Babatunde, Mathematics.
This development marks a significant milestone in their academic careers and reflects their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and service to the academic community.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Maimuna Waziri, commended the newly promoted senior academics for their dedication and hard work. She said the promotions are the result of rigorous evaluations by the University’s Promotion and Appointment Committee, which took into consideration each academic’s research output, publication in reputable journals, teaching, community service and leadership within their respective fields of human endeavours.
‘’These promotions not only reflect the individual achievements of our academics but also underscore the University’s commitment to fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation,’’ she said.
According to her the Governing Council of the University is confident that the newly promoted senior academics will continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of knowledge and the development of future leaders.
