CSO Drum Support for Custom Management Tenure Extension

Civil society organizations under the auspices of One Voice Development Initiative, has drum support for the tenure elongation for the Nigerian Custom Service under the leadership of its Comptroller General Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the National President of the Initiative, Comrade Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai, called on President Bola Tinubu to consider the tenure extension of Adeniyi.
Comrade Yakasai explained that the call for the tenure extension is has nothing to do with any political influence.
He said the idea was birthed going by the Civil Society organization’s assessment of the Nigeria’s economic growth which is gaining momentum through revenue generation by the NCS leadership.
Comrade Yakasai opined that as the Nigeria Customs Service Management working in line with President Tinubu Renewed Hope project on economic growth, oriented fiscal policy, revenue generation and food security agenda, they have launched a special measures to mitigate food security challenges through anti smuggling operations.
The Nigeria Customs service Management have further gone extra mile to establish the standard operation procedure aim to transform Nigeria as Africa’s most efficient trading nation, strengthing national security to promote peace and prosperity,
He asserted “Nigeria Customs Service implement the national single window trading platform to streamline import and export process, reviewing and restructuring incentives and tariff to economic leakages, enforcing the presidential directive on 48 hours clearance of goods at seaport in line with Executive Order 001.”
He maintained that, Nigeria customs service Management have declared a state emergency in revenue generation and collections, where a remarkable report shows a whooping generation increase up to 74 % growth in revenue collection over the past year.
“We have cast a vote of confidence towards a brighter future of the Nigeria Customs Service- led management calling for extension of their services in the best interest of our nation,” Yakasai noted.
