Former PDP Governorship aspirant, Akan Okon salutes Akwa Ibomites on statehood

Former Governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Akan Okon has joined millions of Akwa Ibomites to commemorate the 37th anniversary of the State creation in September 23,1987.
Mr. Okon, who contested against Governor Umo Eno under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, platform in 2023 Governorship party primaries said, the celebration calls for deep introspection of our collective existence to measure our journey with aspirations that birth us.
He urged the government to be intentional in pursuing the ideals of vision, hard work, integrity, industry, sacrifice, brotherhood and service as envisaged by our founding fathers.
Mr. Akan Okon, in a statement issued and signed by him and made available Online stated inter – Alia, “on behalf of my dear wife Queen, I join other millions of our people at home and the diaspora to celebrate the 37th years of solid and steady progress of statehood.
“This couldn’t have been possible without God on Whose name the State is crested, the moment of this celebration calls for deep introspection of our collective existence in other to measure our journey with the aspirations that birthed us.
“We must be intentional in pursuing the ideals of vision, hardwork, integrity, industry, sacrifice, brotherhood and service as envisaged by our pathfinders”.
He added that, “the great story of Dubai is made possible because of leadership and vision raised along the challenges of excellence.
“Though it is an Emirate amongst the seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirate, Dubai is a classic example of modality and development, where value added leadership has led to shared prosperity” and expressed optimism that, with the unity of purpose by our leaders, Akwa Ibom can attain such glorious height like Dubai.
“I have no doubt that together, we shall attain the full height of our potentials as a people, God Almighty being on our side”, he stated.
