Former Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent figure in the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has lambasted the party’s leadership, declaring that the party is irreparably damaged and has reached its end.
Melaye, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District, accused prominent PDP leaders of destroying the party through ‘commercialisation and privatisation’.
He specifically blamed Iliya Damagum, PDP National Chairman, Samuel Anyanwu, PDP National Secretary and Umar Bature, PDP National Organising Secretary for weakening the party.
“The end of the road for PDP as Damagum, Bature, and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time,” Melaye asserted.
Melaye’s scathing criticism comes amidst a wave of crisis rocking the PDP.
Recall that after the 2023 elections, former Rivers State governor and prominent PDP presidential aspirant in 2023 Nyesom Wike, accepted a cabinet minister position in the APC-led federal government, further weakening the PDP.
As the PDP struggles to regain its footing, Melaye’s accusations has raised questions about the party’s ability to recover from internal divisions and external pressures.
