The Gombe State Revenue Recovery Tribunal office was attacked and its billboard destroyed on Thursday as protests against hunger and bad governance turned violent in the state.
The office, which is responsible for revenue collection and tax enforcement, was targeted by hoodlums who were part of the protest.
According to eyewitnesses, the protesters, who were mostly youth, hurled stones and insults at the security agents patrolling the area before turning their attention to the tribunal office which is nearby.
The attack on the tribunal office was part of a larger wave of violence that swept through the state capital, with protesters clashing with security agents and destroying property.
Our correspondent reports that many government ministries, departments, and agencies were closed due to fear of the unknown, and Achaba operations were disrupted.
