A purported car gift by a member of the federal house of representatives from Plateau State, Honourable Yusuf Gagdi, to his daughter who graduated from a secondary school has generated fuss on the social media.
Pictures of the daughter of the lawmaker have been trending on social media since Saturday, insinuating that her father had allegedly gifted her a brand new Lexus RX 2024 car.
The car is estimated to be worth about N30 million naira, thereby generating uproar from social media commentators who think it is a huge amount expended at this period of economic hardship faced by the masses.
However, Gagdi did not share the car gift on his social media handles but shared a heartfelt message celebrating his daughter’s achievement with pictures of himself, the girl and other family members.
“Today, I attended my amazing daughter’s graduation ceremony. Watching you, my dear daughter, walk across that stage fills my heart with immense pride and love.
“I celebrate your achievements and the strength you’ve shown. Here’s to a future filled with endless possibilities and happiness. Congratulations, my shining star! #ProudParent,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that the purported pictures of the car sparked a mix of reactions, with some congratulating the daughter and others criticizing the alleged expensive gift.
