Bauchi State government has launched new policies to boost mineral trading in the state, with the aim of harnessing natural resources and promoting economic growth.
State commissioner for natural resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello stated this while addressing journalists.
According to him, the policies will curb illegal mineral movement, enhance marketing, generate revenue, and create employment opportunities.
The commissioner revealed that the state government has partnered with local producers and international marketers to achieve this goal.
He said A Tin/Columbite factory worth over $50 million has been established in Toro local government, and a 10m ton Cement plant worth over $500m has been established in Gwana, Alkaleri local government.
Bello also announced that the Bauchi Oil and Gas Academy has been established in Alkaleri, and over 73 senior and junior staff have been recruited.
According to the commissioner, this development is a positive step for the state and its residents, and is expected to bring about economic growth and development.
