Taraba APC chieftain asks Kefas to stop globetrotting and tackle local challenges

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Aliyu Zubairu, has advised governor Agbu Kefas, to stop his foreign trips and stay more at home to confront the severe security and socio-economic challenges.
Zubairu gave the advice while interacting with Journalists on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital.
Mr Kefas has spent more time outside the state than in Taraba since he was elected as governor over one year ago.
From wooing development partners in Finland, UK, USA, China as well as Ghana and leading business and trade missions to various embassies in the nation’s capital Abuja, Mr Kefas has been on the go-go-go since he assumed office.
DAYLIGHTREPORTERS findings shows that since Kefas assumed office he has never spent over a week in the state.
Emmanuel Bello, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Digital Communication, who often posts the trips of the governor online with backup pictures, says advocating for the state on the national and international stage requires travel.
Mr Kefas while interacting with stakeholders to mark his one year in office also claimed that the state will soon yield the dividends of his foreign trips in areas of mining, education, transportation and agriculture.
Mr Zubairu said wooing investors is not something the governor has to go around the world for. The world is now a global village.
“In this age of technology, the governor does not need to globetrot to attract foreign investments. When he made our business environment safe and conducive, investors will keep rushing to the state.
“There is nothing wrong in reaching out to foreign partners for bilateral relationships. Their embassies are here. He can do everything here without moving around the world considering the state lean resources
“The governor and his team need to sit down, and address the security challenges confronting the state before talking of wooing investors
“Nobody will come and invest in an insecure and volatile environment.
“The governor should fix militating factors to investment and travel less because all these foreign trips are a drain to our meagre resources.
“Well we are still waiting for the dividends of such travels.” Mr Zubairu said.
Zubairu also accused the governor of appointing “stooges” as Commissioners so that he can always have things done his way.
“It is so sad that the Governor deliberately appointed stooges as Commissioners who lack knowledge of the offices they occupy.
“The commissioners do not even know what goes on in their ministries and they cannot challenge the governor because they are mostly small boys and lack administrative experience and courage” Zubairu said.
