Gombe University Alumni Association Appoints Sen. Goje Life patron
The Gombe State University (GSU) Alumni Association has appointed a former governor in the state and serving senator representing Gombe central Danjuma Goje as a life patron.
The association presented the appointment letter to the senator and political mentor at his Asokoro residence in Abuja.
President of the association, Buhari Magaji, an associate professor described Senator Goje as the architect of modern Gombe State and the greatest leader the people of Gombe have had since the state’s creation 28 years ago.
He added that Gombe State University is Goje’s brainchild, lauding him for establishing it to give the state’s citizens and others access to university education.
He recalled that the ex-governor appointed late Professor Abdullahi Mahadi as its pioneer Vice Chancellor in 2004.
“With the unwavering support of Goje, Professor Mahadi laid a solid foundation for the university, making it one of the best higher education institutions in the country today.”, he stated.
Responding, Senator Goje expressed gratitude to the Alumni Association for the honour and assured them of his commitment to continue supporting education in Gombe State and the country at large.
