Reports have revealed that no fewer than 24 people have lost their lives to floods in Jigawa state, while 17 local government areas were affected by the flood out of the 27 local government in the state.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Yusuf Sani Babura told newsmen that some of the victims were taking temporary shelter in primary schools, while some others are squatting with their relatives.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA, also disclosed to newsmen that 50 houses were submerged by the flood.
While speaking, Babura explained that SEMA had commenced the distribution of some relief items, which include food, drugs, and other materials to cushion the effect of the flood on the victims.
It was also gathered that an IDP camp has been created in order to have a place for the victims to settle for their urgent needs.
Local government areas affected by the flood include: Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Babura, Malam Madori, Jahun, Ringim, and Kirikasanma.
