Purity: Most Nigerians can’t compete with Almajiri- Omokri
A former aide to former President Jonathan, Reno Omokri has averred that many Nigerians can’t compare to Almmajiri in terms of purity of heart. Reacting to a social media critique of him by one Omale Maxwell Acheneje, Omokri said:” In terms of purity of heart, many Nigerians, with all their material wealth, do not come close to Almajiri.
“According to Omokri, if he were to choose between being an Almajiri or being brainwashed into European Christendom, he will choose to be an Almajiri one thousand times. The commentary was a reaction to a Facebook comment by Acheneje, where he alleged that Omokri vas a former Almajiri before he converted (to Christianity). “In terms of pure and undefiled love for God, the only people I have seen that compete with Almajiri are Orthodox Tewahedo Christians, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists.
“That caricature that you people did of me as an Almajiri makes me feel honoured. I know them and I love them. If you go through that training, you will be morally sound for life!” Omokri said. He asked: “as poor and wretched as Almajiri are, since you were born, Omale, have you ever heard that an Almajiri stole, lied, scammed, or peddled hard drugs? In terms of purity of heart, many Nigerians, with all their material wealth, do not come close to Almajiri.”
