Jigawa Gov’t Hails Lamido For Donating His Mansion For Islamic Institute
The government of Jigawa State have lauded a former governor of the state Sule Lamido for donating his mansion where he resides in at Bamaina, Birnin kudu local government area of the state to be converted into school.
Lamido on Thursday made a will that his house should be converted into Institute for Islamic Studies and Research when he dies.
The donation by the ex-governor has elicited accolades from citizens of the state and the government with the state government sending a high powered delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Bala Ibrahim Mamser to appreciate the former governor.
DAYLIGHT REPORTERS reports that the former governor, a son of Bamaina community-built mansion and lives there as against the state capital, Dutse where most of the state dignitaries’ own residences and live.
Sule Lamido has formally informed the Jigawa State Government that after his demise, his Bamaina mansion will be donated to Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa as Institute for Islamic Studies and Research.
The SSG who led government’s delegation on Friday to thank the former governor said his principal has directed them to convey appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the government and people of Jigawa State.
While applauding him for the gesture, the SSG said it was the first ever in the history of the state.
“The governor said he was not surprised with this development considering your love for the state and the immense contributions you have given towards its development.”, he stated.
In their separate remarks, the commissioners of local government affairs Ahmed Garba M.K and education Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, that of water resources and natural resources Ibrahim Garba Hannun Giwa, environment Nura Ibrahim Ɗan Doka who were parts of the government’s delegation said the donation of the house to the government has once again proven Sule Lamido’s patriotism and commitment to the development of Jigawa State.
Sule Lamido was assisted by his sons; Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido and associates like Professor Attahiru Jega, Professor Adamu Abdulrasheed and the architect who designed the house Arc. B. Adamu to receive the government’s officials.
Our correspondent gathered that Sule Lamido was two terms governor of Jigawa State from 2003 to 2011 and is aged 75 years at present.
