A 36-year-old hairdresser, Ochanya Obande, on Wednesday appeared in a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, over alleged criminal breach of trust.
The police charged Obande, who resides in Kubwa, Abuja, with criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of funds and cheating.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr John Okpa, told the court that the complainant, Loveth Oche reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Aug. 29.
Okpa alleged that the complainant gave the defendant N57, 000 for safe in March and she converted it to her personal use.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312, 309 and 322 of the Penal Code.
Defence Counsel, Mr Taiye Okoya urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would provide a reliable surety.
The Judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Adamu ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for mention.
