Barely a month after the commencement of an intense war between the Israeli military and Hamas militants, Israel has agreed to implement four-hour pauses in fighting each day in the northern Gaza strip, the White House has said.
White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said an announcement would be made three hours beforehand.
He said: “We’ve been told by the Israelis that there will be no military operations in these areas throughout the pause and that this process is starting today.”
On October 7, 2023, an armed conflict escalated between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militants from the Gaza Strip after the latter launched a multi-pronged invasion of Southern Israel.
Reports had it that at least 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in the war in the Gaza Strip since October 7.
