A student of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Calabar (Unical), Kingsley Chukwuemeka Anyanwu, has developed the Unical Explorer Application Software.
The Director of Information, Faculty of Engineering and Technology of the university, Cynthia Chinenye Maduekwe announced the groundbreaking development of the UNICAL Explorer App during an interaction with journalists at the institution, Thursday.
Maduekwe explained that the visionary project is led by the Unical Computer Science student, Kingsley Chukwuemeka Anyanwu is available on both Iphone and Android devices.
“This innovative application boasts a range of features, including UNICAL GPT, a location finder, chatroom functionality, a Students Union Government Executives verified badge slot, past questions, results checker and an upcoming Skills Acquisition forum.
“The UNICAL Explorer App, available on both iPhone and Android platforms, represents a significant leap forward in technology, fostering connectivity and enhancing the university experience for students and faculty alike.
“With its diverse features, the app is poised to become an integral part of campus life, providing a seamless platform for communication, information retrieval, and skill development,” she noted.
Speaking on the key features of the App the Director of Information said: “The app incorporates cutting-edge artificial intelligence through UNICAL GPT, ensuring users have access to advanced language processing capabilities.
“The location finder is Simplifying campus navigation, the location finder feature makes it easier for students and visitors to navigate the university premises efficiently.
“The inclusion of a chatroom facilitates real-time communication, collaboration, and information sharing among students and faculty members.
“The SUG Executives Verified Badge Slot enhances transparency, the app includes a slot for Students Union Government Executives to be verified, fostering credibility and trust within the university community,” Maduekwe stated.
She appealed to the management of the university of Calabar to review and approve the app in line with institutional guidelines as well as called on the State and Federal Governments to recognise the significance of the project and extend their support towards advancing the passion, talent and skills of young innovators.
The Director of Information added that the Result Checker of the app would “help to process semester results through getting your scratch card and matriculation number,” while the GSS CBT and Post UTME past questions “will be beneficial for exams revision.”
