2027: Is Prof. Pantami Eyeing Gombe Governorship Seat?

Many believed that Prof. Isa Ali Pantami is eyeing for the Governorship ticket in Gombe State in 2027 from the rumours going round. Another thing that makes people believe that is the unveiling of his charity foundation named ‘Professor Isa Ali Pantami Foundation’ which trended yesterday in Gombe Media platforms. But does this assertion seems true? Only God knows. But let say it’s true. What disqualify him in doing so? Nothing?
I was one of those that criticised his appointment as NITDA Boss when the then President Muhammadu Buhari appoints him in his first tenure. My reason then was that he is just a cleric and so he shouldn’t join politics. But Pantami proved me wrong, not only me but almost everyone despite being an Islamic cleric he performed excellently at NITDA Boss before he was again appointed by the same administration as the Communication Minister.
You don’t need me to tell you how many projects he executed in Gombe being his own state and the country at large. Let me not talk on the appointments he gave to different sets of people. Whether you are on his side or not, put envy aside and tell the truth that Pantami is an epitome of hope. He makes Gombe proud in the eye of the world. No one will gainsay this fact.
Unveiling charity foundation to support vulnerable people is what we are lacking and in need of now. Aside Majen Gombe foundation named ‘Abdulrahman Aliyu Foundation ‘ I haven’t seen any foundation in existence that is doing what is expected. Therefore, Prof Pantami Foundation should be welcome but not to be criticise.
Notwithstanding, there’s one thing I realised since from the inception of this scenario. Majority of those criticising Pantami and describing his effort as political are the card carrying members of the ruling party APC. Almost all of them are doing so not because they didn’t agree with his capacity, but to just pleased their bosses in the party whom might have same ambition with the Prof if the rumour happened to be true.
No one stops your bosses from doing what Pantami is doing now. He is a card carrying member of the APC and also an indigene of Gombe State. He has the right to contest the seats he want. The constitution gave him that right. And no one would stop him if he so wishes.
Eventhough, on many occasions he refuses to confess that he is a politician but now is the right time if he knows he is truly eyeing the most apex seat in Gombe and should publicly confess and declare his intention to eased himself alot of things before it’s too late. If Pantami truly eyeing for the Governorship ticket then he has no mate in the party. The only serious contestant that might likely putforward by the Governor is the serving minister of transport whom has no record of achievement after being a senator for almost 10years before now. His own local government is yet to have a single higher institution and a good road.
Therefore for APC, Pantami is better.
