Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Police has disclosed that it has rescued two students of Federal University Gusau and a staffer abducted when bandits stormed a student-rented house at the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba in Gusau metropolis in the early hours of Saturday.
Recall that last month, over 20 students of the university were abducted while only six students have been rescued leaving 14 students still held captive.
The rescue of the three abductees was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, and made available to Newsmen on Sunday.
The statement noted that, “On 14 th October, 2023 at about 2000hrs a group of armed men suspected to be bandit armed with dangerous weapons invaded the students’ rent house located at the outskirts area of Sabon garin Damba on gun point abducted two students and one Staff of federal University Gusau.
“On receipt of the information, the Striking force of the Command mobilized on search and rescue operations which yielded a very good and positive result as all the victims were rescued unhurt.”
According to the statement, “operation is still on with the view of arresting the fleeting abductors.
“The Zamfara State Police Command, under the able leadership of CP Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, reassured all people of the state that the Command will do its best in protecting lives and properties and also provide a conducive atmosphere for the learning process in the state.”
The Command, while reassuring a safe environment for schooling in the state, urged the good people of the state “to furnish the command with credible and timely information on the activities of criminals so as to salvage our dear state from all forms of criminality.
