Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has cautioned teachers to be responsible in both character and in their teaching processes.
The Governor gave the cautioned on Thursday while speaking at the World Teachers Day celebration, at Malam Aminu Kano Triangle, Dutse.
Namadi described that, the teaching profession as the mother of all professions which requires commitment and sacrifice from teachers for a better society.
“You have to be responsible and fair to our children, you are also teaching character, you have to behave well wherever you are because you are a role model to our children”
“Teaching is a noble profession, a profession l cherished, my best profession, You have to thank God for finding yourself in this profession”
The Governor explained that his administration is doing its best to improve teaching and learning in the state
“We are doing our best to improve your welfare, training and retraining and everything that will improve teaching and learning.”
State Chairman NUT, Abdulkadir Yunusa appealed to the state government to provide enough funding to the sector to address the educational problems.
He, however, urged the state government to give permanent appointments to the recruited J-teach to fill the existing teacher gap in the state.
The theme of this years commemoration is “The teacher we need for the education we want”
