The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has congratulated four former members of the House who sworn-in as ministers by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu on Monday, he congratulated the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of State for Education, Hon. Tanko Yusuf Sununu and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh who were all former members of the House
Onyejeocha was the Deputy Chief Whip in the 9th House, Tunji-Ojo and Sununu, were Chairmen of the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Healthcare Services respectively.
Kalu expressed optimism that the former lawmakers will bring their wealth of experience as legislators to bear in their new national assignment.
While congratulating his sister from Abia State, Onyejeocha, he described her as a legislator per excellence, who has an excellent performance record in the various committees she served in over the years at the National Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker said he’s confident in her capability to deliver and exceed expectations as Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
On Tunji-Ojo, Kalu said his choice by the President as minister of interior was a testament of his competence and proven capacity.
He recalled that, Tunji-Ojo chaired the House Committee on NDDC in the 9th Assembly and spearheaded a very important probe that led to series of reforms in the Commission, as well as compelling the Buhari administration to constitute a new board for the NDDC.
He also extolled Sununu for his contributions to the health sector as the Chairman Health Services.
He said that the parliament will miss them, and called on Nigerians to rally round the new ministers by providing necessary supports that would enable them succeed in their various areas of assignments for the benefit of Nigerians.
