Troops of Sector 1 Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued a former Provost Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau, Dr Hassan Abubakar Augie and his son after an encounter with bandits.
The troops who were deployed at Forward Operating Base Mada in Zamfara state while on routine patrol along Shemori – Yandoto road at Marke general area on Friday August 11th, 2023 encountered the unspecified number of armed Bandits.
They engaged the Bandits for several hours, forcing the bandits to fled in disarray into forest along the area due to their fire superiority.
The OPHD troops immediately went in hot pursuit of the Bandits into the forest which forced them to abandon two civilians who were rescued from the Bandits unhurt. and recovered two operational motorcycles.
The rescued persons were later identified as Dr Hassan Abubakar Augie, the former Provost Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau and his son.
Preliminary investigation revealed that they were abducted by the armed bandits from his residence late last night and taken into the forest before the timely arrival of troops who rescued them.
Accordingly, the victims have been reunited with their families, while the troops maintained aggressive vigilance and patrol in the general area.
