Part of the old building of the Zaria central mosque located in front of the emir’s palace has collapse on people while offering Asar prayers at around 4pm.
An eyewitness who craves for anonymity has told Daylight Reporters that the building which is old was the only part left out of the recent face lifting of the mosque and it collapsed due to the heavy downpour experience in the city Thursday night.
“The building was part of the olden mosque, and it collapsed possible due to heavy downpour we had yesterday.
“People were offering Asar prayers at about 4pm when the building was collapsed and there was no fatality recorded yet, those injured were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
“We’re lucky it didn’t happen during today’s Friday congregation; it could have been worsened.” He said.
