Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu has sworn in the members of the Judicial Commission of inquiry set up by his administration.
This was disclosed in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary,Abubakar Bawa on Saturday.
He reminded the members that their appointment was purely based on merit and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He said,”Members of this judicial commission of inquiry are people of proven integrity and track records of service, so we expect a result-oriented outcome”.
Governor Aliyu said, the setting up of the commission of inquiry was part of his pledge to the people of the state of running an accountable, transparent and prudent government.
He however stressed that the setting up of the commission is not meant to witch hunt any body, but to investigate how state’s property, vehicles and machineries were handled by the immediate past administration few days to its exit.
The judicial commission of inquiry was set up to investigate auctions of government assets, land allocations, as well as the sale of government’s houses by the immediate past administration.
The six-man panel has Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga rtd as Chairman, with Barrister Nasiru Mohammed Binji Esq as Secretary.
The commission has two months to complete its assignment.
