The Police Command in Jigawa said it has arrested five suspected armed robbers in two separate operations in the state.
A statement on Wednesday in Dutse by the command Spokesperson, Mr Lawal Shiisu, said two of the suspects were arrested for robbing a motorcyclist.
He said that the victim, Ashiru Musa of Kyaran village, reported the incident to Fanisau Police Division.
The victim narrated that the two armed men accosted him and took away his boxer motorcycle with registration number AYE 918 UP Ogun.
Shiisu said a patrol team attached to Fanisau Division tracked and arrested the suspected armed robbers and recovered the motorcycle.
The command Spokesperson gave their names as Tijjani Haruna, 19, and Baballe Abdulrahman, 25.He added three other suspects were nabbed by police operatives and local vigilantes in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Ahmadu Audu, Shuaibu Bayeri, and Samaila Musa, who hail from Majiyar Kirdau village in Ringim local government area, were arrested for alleged criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and causing grievous hurt.
Shiisu said that the suspects had confessed to have snatched numerous motorcycles in and around Ringim LGA.
“They also mentioned other gang members as well as their accomplice in Gezawa local government area of Kano State,” he added.
Shiisu said the suspects will be charged to court after investigation.
